Our commitment to accessibility
Goldhour is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability, assistive technology, or browsing environment. We want everyone who visits to be able to find information about our experiences and get in touch with us without barriers.
We review this site on a continuing basis with accessibility in mind, and we welcome feedback that helps us do better.
02
Conformance target
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA — the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the W3C. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including those who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, or other assistive tools.
We are working toward full conformance. Where gaps remain, we note them in the section below.
03
Measures taken
-
–
Semantic HTML: Pages use appropriate landmark elements (
header, main, nav, footer) and heading hierarchy to help screen readers navigate structure. - – Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements — links, buttons, form fields, and the cookie preference toggles — are reachable and operable by keyboard alone. Focus states are visible with a clearly distinguishable outline.
- – Colour contrast: Text and interactive elements are tested to meet a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against their backgrounds in normal reading conditions. The primary text colour (#26190F) against the page background achieves a ratio well above this threshold.
- – Reduced-motion support: Transitions and visual effects are suppressed for visitors who have enabled the "reduce motion" preference on their operating system.
-
–
Descriptive alt text: All meaningful images carry descriptive alternative text. Decorative images use empty
alt=""so screen readers skip them. -
–
Labelled form fields: Every form input has an associated visible label or an
aria-label. Required fields are marked clearly. Error states are communicated in text, not colour alone. -
–
ARIA roles: Interactive components that don't map to a native HTML element — such as the cookie consent toggles and the mobile navigation — carry appropriate
roleandaria-*attributes to communicate their state. - – Responsive layout: Content reflows at any viewport width without horizontal scrolling or loss of information, supporting use at high zoom levels.
04
Known limitations
We try to be honest about areas where we have more work to do:
- – The embedded Google Maps iframe does not fully support keyboard navigation within the map itself. Users needing the address or directions can find these in the contact section of the page as plain text.
- – Third-party images sourced from external platforms may occasionally carry incomplete alt text. We review these periodically.
- – The display font (Clash Display) is loaded from Google Fonts. If that resource is unavailable, the site falls back to a system serif, which may affect visual styling but not readability or function.
